Joey Shimko brings size, motor, and backfield disruption to Lafayette
In the 2025 season, Joey Shimko flashed as a physical, high-energy defensive lineman for Lafayette, posting 13 tackles and 0.5 sacks in limited action while earning a spot in the rotation[2][11][13]. At 6-foot-4 and 258 pounds, he has the frame to hold up inside or kick out on the edge, and his 2024 Martin County résumé — 48 tackles, 14 TFLs, and 10.5 sacks — shows real pass-rush upside[3]. He looks like a fit for a team that wants effort, length, and room to develop into a disruptive front-line piece[3][14].
