Veteran Hokies righty with a proven arm, but 2026 command has been shaky
Jacob Exum is a senior right-handed reliever for Virginia Tech with a real bullpen pedigree: he flashed in 2024 with a 3.65 ERA over 24.2 innings and 19 strikeouts, and scouts have long liked the size-and-ride look at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds with a mid-90s fastball foundation. In 2026, though, the run prevention has dipped — he’s sitting at a 9.95 ERA with 7 strikeouts in 6.1 innings — so the appeal is upside, experience, and power stuff, while the concern is strike-throwing consistency and whether he can reclaim the sharper version of himself.
