Russ Smith is DBU’s versatile right-hander with late-game value and strikeout bite
In the 2026 season, Russ Smith has shown he can impact Dallas Baptist in multiple roles: he’s been used as a starter and has also picked up saves, including a strong late-inning outing against Sam Houston. DBU lists him as a 6-foot, 200-pound right-hander from Houston, and the key draw is his swingman flexibility, competitiveness in pressure spots, and ability to miss bats when he’s right. The stat line has been uneven at times, but the trust to pitch in leverage suggests he’s a useful arm for a staff that values toughness and adaptability.
