Sal Batres brings power bullpen upside and polish to UC Davis
Batres has been viewed as a key bullpen arm for UC Davis, with the ability to work in starts, a 90+ mph fastball, and a deceptive slider that gives hitters a different look; in 2024 he was described by the program as one of the most polished pitchers on the staff. In the 2025 season, his numbers were rough in limited work (3.0 IP, 1 SO, 10 BB), so the fit is more about bet-on-the-tools upside and strike-throwing development than finished product.
