Reliable Catcher with Softball IQ and Defensive Value
Abby Van Volkenburgh brings value as a catcher because that position demands leadership, game-calling, and steady defensive presence more than raw stats alone can show. Publicly available information is limited, but her profile with Rider indicates she is a current collegiate softball player whose fit will depend on whether a team needs a behind-the-plate defender who can handle pitching staffs, control the run game, and stay composed under pressure. That makes her appealing for programs prioritizing durability, communication, and a high-IQ defensive backbone.
