Texas Tech’s Antonio Huffman: veteran Red Raider DB turned program backbone
Antonio Huffman is a former Texas Tech defensive back who finished his playing career in 2006 with 189 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 25 pass breakups, including a Defensive MVP performance in the Insight Bowl[1][4]. Today, he’s valued less for box-score flash and more for high-leverage football IQ, steadiness, and deep Red Raider DNA—he’s been described as the program’s off-field “head coach” for operations and NIL-era navigation[5][9]. For a team or fan base, that signals leadership, institutional trust, and a no-drama fit.
