Virginia Tech's Tackling Machine Turned Dynamic Coach
Andrew Motuapuaka, a standout Virginia Tech linebacker from 2013-2017, exploded in 2017 with 92 tackles, 11.5 TFLs, and 3.5 sacks across 13 games, earning 3x Third Team All-ACC honors and 2x captaincy for his relentless intensity and leadership. His hard-nosed, purpose-driven style—evident in media day clips—made him a defensive anchor, though a brief 2018 Jaguars stint followed. Now Special Teams Coordinator/Linebackers Coach at Simpson Redhawks, his Hokie pedigree and family-man vibe make him a coach worth watching for building gritty, high-motor defenses.
