steady Western Michigan righty who’s been trusted in big spots
In the 2026 season, Western Michigan RHP Matt Maloney has worked in both relief and leverage situations, appearing in 13 games with a 1-1 record and 6.62 ERA over 17.2 innings, while striking out 17 and allowing 14 hits. He looks like a bullpen arm built on toughness and trust: he earned a win in a walk-off over Michigan State in 2025, threw a career-high 3.0 scoreless frames in the 2026 Senior Day win over NIU, and has been used when games get tight. If your team wants a dependable strike-thrower with experience in pressure innings, he’s the kind of pitcher coaches notice.
