early Mountaineers spark with proven hands, but his impact was most visible in the mid-2010s
Jaylan Barbour entered Appalachian State in 2014 as a nationally rated high-school receiver, ranked among ESPN’s top 100 at the position, and quickly flashed playmaking ability with a 40-yard performance against Michigan in 2014. In his Appalachian State career, he totaled 11 catches for 134 yards and 1 touchdown, with a 2015 season line of 3 receptions for 49 yards, showing a reliable but modest production profile. The big reason to care: he brought quickness, experience, and enough versatility to contribute as a receiver and occasional gadget piece. For a team seeking explosive, high-volume WR production, the fit looks limited; for depth and situational upside, he had value.
