Damian Pantoya brings a live right arm and upside, but availability is the key question
Pantoya is a Texas A&M-Corpus Christi right-hander with a power frame and early velocity interest, highlighted by a reported fastball topping out at 88 mph in Prep Baseball Report’s Class of 2023 evals. His profile suggests a pitcher with starter-style size and room to keep growing, but the big differentiator right now is durability: the Islanders list him as injured and note he did not play in 2024, so his value is as much about health and recovery as raw stuff. If he’s fully back, he’s the kind of arm teams can develop.
