Local walk-on guard with a defensive pulse and developmental upside at URI
In the 2024-25 season, Jaymien Aponte appeared in four games for Rhode Island and logged limited minutes, with his clearest early value coming from length, defensive activity, and earning a spot as a walk-on after making the team out of Cranston West. At 6-foot-3, he gives the Rams a guard with local toughness and room to grow, but he is still an unproven college contributor offensively, so the fit is best for a program that values development, effort, and back-end depth over immediate scoring impact.[1][8][10][14]
