veteran Appalachian State linebacker who brings steady, under-the-radar production
Monte Smith is a battle-tested Appalachian State linebacker who has built his reputation on reliability, physicality, and doing the dirty work that keeps a defense humming. In one ASU feature, he was credited with 79 tackles and 8 stops in a quarterfinal win, a snapshot of the kind of high-motor, assignment-sound play that coaches love and opponents hate. He stands out more for consistency, toughness, and football IQ than flash, which makes him a strong fit for teams that value disciplined run support and dependable tackling over highlight-reel theatrics.
