EMU's Sharpshooting Guard with Proven Clutch Genes
Derek VanSolkema, a 6-1 shooting guard for Eastern Michigan Eagles, stands out with elite three-point sniping—dropping 5-of-11 threes for 19 points in Hope College's 2008 NCAA DIII third-place game—and brings that long-range firepower to the MAC. His Grand Rapids roots and early flashes like a 10-point outing vs. NDSU in 2005 highlight a gritty, high-IQ shooter who's reliable in big moments without injury red flags. Perfect fit for teams needing spacing and perimeter threats—watch him heat up if EMU builds around his stroke.
