Cael Schmitt brings defensive juice and smart guard play to UNI
After returning from knee surgery, Schmitt gave UNI a reliable late-season spark in 2024-25, appearing in 15 games and averaging 4.4 points in 16.5 minutes while shooting 35.9% from three. His calling card is defense and feel: he logged 11 steals, had a three-steal outing in the NIT at SMU, and UNI credits him with strong leadership and a high basketball IQ. He looks like a fit for teams that value toughness, poise, and connective guard play more than pure volume scoring.
