Veteran, versatile Saluki safety with academic chops
Luke Thuston brings veteran value to Southern Illinois as a senior safety with experience at both safety spots and a history of starting on both sides of the ball, which gives him unusual field awareness and flexibility. In the 2023 season, he played in all 12 games, made two starts at free safety, and posted a career-high six tackles against Missouri State, while also earning major academic honors, a nice sign of discipline and consistency. If a staff wants a dependable, coachable defensive back who can handle multiple roles and won’t disappear when the lights get bright, he’s the kind of glue guy worth caring about.
