Aaliyah Zabala was Southern’s ace in 2026 — and one of the SWAC’s most dominant arms
In the 2026 season, Aaliyah Zabala powered Southern with an 18-6 record, 1.77 ERA, 110 strikeouts, and 5 shutouts, while ranking 15th nationally in ERA and 25th in shutouts[2][3][15]. She was named SWAC Pitcher of the Year and earned All-Louisiana First Team honors after fueling Southern’s deepest conference-tournament run in years, including back-to-back elimination-game shutouts[2]. The big takeaway: she’s a workhorse left-right mix? no—rather a durable, big-game starter who thrives under pressure, competes deep into games, and already has the “give me the ball” vibe teams love[2][14].
