Old-school tackling machine with Jackrabbit captain energy
In the 2012 season, Ross Shafrath was the heartbeat of South Dakota State’s defense, leading the Jackrabbits in tackles through the first five games and earning Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors after a 12-tackle, 2-interception outing against Missouri State[5][10]. He was praised as a full-time starting linebacker and team captain, with standout traits that go beyond the box score: relentless intensity, reliability, and academic discipline[3][14]. If you want a defender who brings production, leadership, and a high-motor identity, he’s a strong fit[3][5].
