Veteran Sam Houston DE with size and presence
Codie Brooks is a Sam Houston defensive lineman listed by ESPN for the 2026 season, and he stands out more as a veteran depth/rotation piece than as a headline-grabbing stat monster. The key appeal here is pro-day pedigree and length—he’s the kind of edge defender coaches like for effort, toughness, and work ethic, even when the box score stays quiet. Publicly available current stat lines are limited, so the real story is fit: if a team wants a physical, developmental DE who can bring energy and grind, Brooks makes sense.
