Nick Norton's Drake Career Cut Short by Injury; Now Coaching at Indiana
Nick Norton transitioned from promising Drake guard to assistant coach on Darian DeVries' staff at Indiana University. During his 2018-19 redshirt senior season at Drake, Norton showcased elite playmaking with a triple-double (18 pts, 17 ast, 13 reb) and scored 31 points in a double-OT thriller. However, a season-ending knee injury during an overtime game against Evansville derailed his playing career. Career Drake stats: 8.5 PPG, 4.7 APG, 2.7 RPG on 40.8% FG. His journey from standout high school champion to injury-resilient player to coaching demonstrates adaptability and basketball intelligence—valuable traits for developing young talent.
