Cal’s tackling anchor and steady defensive leader
Bert Watts was a physical, dependable safety for California, leading the 2002 Bears with 80 tackles and earning recognition as a three-year letter winner and team leader. His value comes from reliability, toughness, and defensive command rather than flashy splash plays, making him the kind of player coaches trust to stabilize the back end. For a team that wants a disciplined, hard-nosed defender with proven production and leadership traits, Watts stands out as a strong fit.
