Local Walk-On Story, Special Teams Grinder, and Former QB Turned WR
McCall Ray’s biggest calling card is versatility: after joining Indiana as a walk-on, he shifted from quarterback to wide receiver in spring 2022, earned scout-team honors in 2020, and made his first career catch that season. In the 2022 season, he logged 1 reception for 10 yards, but the real value was the toughness and buy-in he showed in special-teams and developmental roles. He looks like the kind of depth piece coaches love—selfless, adaptable, and coachable—rather than a stats-heavy difference-maker.
