steady Alabama State back with proven all-purpose upside
Jacoby Merritt has been a productive, versatile piece for Alabama State, with a 2022 season of 43 carries for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns, plus receiving value in earlier seasons that hints at more than just between-the-tackles work. The appeal is his compact, durable run style and willingness to do the dirty work; the knock is that his college production profile has been more complementary than headline-grabbing. If a team wants a tough, assignment-sound back who can contribute in multiple phases, he makes sense.
