Versatile NIU guard who filled the stat sheet
McKinney stood out for Northern Illinois as a multi-skill guard who scored efficiently, rebounded well for his position, and added playmaking and defensive activity; in 2006-07 he led NIU in scoring at 12.5 points per game while shooting 51.2% from the field, and his earlier seasons showed balanced production with assists, steals, and blocks in the mix. That makes him the kind of player coaches value beyond raw scoring: dependable, active, and able to impact winning in more than one phase of the game.[1][2][6]
