Mackenzie Durr brings strikeout upside and proven run prevention to the Islanders’ circle
Durr profiles as a power pitcher with real upside: at Desert Mountain in 2024-25, she logged a 1.71 ERA, 85 strikeouts in 61.1 innings, and held hitters to a .171 average against while also fielding at a strong .963 clip.[1] Texas A&M-Corpus Christi lists her as a 5'10" R/R pitcher, and the program notes she arrived with NJCAA all-region/all-conference honors plus a coach’s endorsement for command on both sides of the plate and strong movement.[10] She looks like a good fit for a staff that values bat-missing stuff, competitive experience, and a pitcher who can impact both performance and defense.[1][10]
