Indiana State's Rylan Cole: High‑Motor Safety With Big‑Play Range and Conference‑Level Production
Rylan Cole is a rangy, high‑motor safety who finished 2022 ranked 59th nationally in FCS tackles per game (8.4) and tied for Indiana State’s team lead with 84 total stops, plus three interceptions and eight pass breakups, showing his ability to impact both the run and pass. A two‑time MVFC Defensive Player of the Week honoree, Cole stands out for his sideline‑to‑sideline pursuit, physicality in the box, and second‑effort tackling, traits that make him a strong fit for schemes valuing aggressive, disciplined back‑end defenders. His 2023 season was missed due to inactivity, so durability and recent game‑shape context are key evaluation points for any program eyeing him.
