McNeese’s versatile local arm with upside and grit
Reese Ashworth, a junior right-handed pitcher for McNeese in the 2026 season, brings a useful local-connection story out of DeQuincy and a competitive edge that fits a staff looking for toughness and growth. His previous college record shows he’s not a finished product yet, but the appeal is clear: a young arm with room to develop, enough athletic pedigree to matter, and the kind of backend pitching profile that can become valuable if the command and consistency keep climbing. In short, he’s a “bet on the tools and the makeup” type who could fit a program that develops pitchers well.
