In the 2023 season at UT Martin, Ajay Smith appeared in 20 games and finished with 3 receptions for 56 yards and 1 touchdown, yet his profile still pops because of his rare 6-4, 190-pound frame and outside receiver build.[1][5] Before UT Martin, he showed real splash-play juice at Independence CC, averaging 18.4 yards per catch in 2021, and later produced 63 catches for 1,698 yards and 18 touchdowns across two semi-pro seasons, which helps explain why teams keep betting on his upside.[3][5] He looks like a developmental X receiver: vertical, rangy, and intriguing, but with a production résumé that says projection matters as much as polish.[1][5]
