Jamar Birden brings edge-speed upside to Ball State’s defensive front
Birden is a promising young Ball State defensive lineman with clear burst and production pedigree: in his 2024 senior season at Ware County (GA), he posted 54 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 9 sacks, while earning first-team all-region honors and a three-star rating. He fits the mold of an active edge rusher who can disrupt plays in the backfield, and the fact that Ball State beat out offers from Duke, Tennessee and Indiana says plenty about his upside. At 6-foot-2 and about 220-233 pounds, he looks like a developmental DL with real pass-rush juice.
