Cornell’s proven builder: Jaques blends winning pedigree with steady, player-first leadership
In the 2024-25 season, Jon Jaques led Cornell to an 18-11 record, the most wins ever by a first-year Cornell men’s basketball head coach, after already helping guide the Big Red to back-to-back Ivy League Tournament appearances and a 2025 title-game run.[1][10] He’s valued less for flash than for continuity, toughness, and deep program DNA: a Cornell alum, former senior captain on the school’s 2010 NCAA Sweet 16 team, and a coach who has worked his way through the staff since 2013.[5][6] For a team, he looks like a high-IQ fit—organized, experienced, and battle-tested.
