Craig Carey is a West Virginia alum turned behind-the-scenes hoops lifer
Craig Carey is not a current West Virginia player; the available reliable sources identify him as a former Mountaineers practice player and now a longtime coach, which means there are no current-season player stats to evaluate for the 2026 season[1][3][6]. What stands out is his deep program familiarity, high basketball IQ, and proof he can thrive in a support role—he spent years as WVU’s video coordinator before becoming an assistant, then went on to head-coach success at IUP, including a 2025-26 run to 31-4 and the NCAA title game[4][5][9]. If you’re asking whether he fits a team, the answer is yes for culture, preparation, and accountability—but not as an active guard prospect[3][5].
