Shane Benton brings veteran backcourt grit to North Dakota
Shane Benton is a former North Dakota guard whose value was built on toughness, defensive instincts and steady point-of-attack pressure rather than flashy scoring; in the 2012-13 season, he helped UND win in tight spots, including a late steal-and-free-throw sequence against Northern Colorado[7]. His profile suggests a dependable, team-first fit for programs that want perimeter defense, composure and a player willing to do the unglamorous work. Recent public records also indicate Benton’s North Dakota connection is historical rather than a current roster role, so this is more a legacy fit than an active recruitment target[4][8].
