6-foot-1 wing with high-upside size and local-state pedigree
Claire Sheppard is a 6-1 guard/wing for South Dakota State who brings length, versatility, and proven playmaking from high school, where she finished as Flandreau’s all-time scoring leader with 1,666 points and also ranked near the top in assists. In the 2024-25 season, she redshirted at SDSU, and in 2025-26 she has been used sparingly so far, which makes her more of a long-term upside play than an instant-stat-stuffer. What stands out is the combo of size, skill, and ballIQ — she was a state finalist, a multi-time all-state honoree, and even represented SDSU at USA Basketball 3x Nationals.
