Booty’s USC résumé is still loaded with Trojan swagger
John David Booty was a highly efficient USC quarterback whose best college season came in 2006, when he threw for 3,347 yards, 29 touchdowns, and only 9 interceptions while leading the Trojans to a Pac-10 title and Rose Bowl win; across his USC career, he finished with 6,125 passing yards and 55 touchdown passes. His calling card was poise, accuracy, and command in a pro-style attack, but he also carried the classic quarterback warning label: he spent three years behind Matt Leinart before taking over, and injuries, including a broken finger on his throwing hand, disrupted his final seasons. If you want a polished, experienced distributor with big-game pedigree, he fit the bill.
