Damien McCottrell gives Eastern Illinois a rugged interior presence with veteran ballast
McCottrell is the kind of defensive tackle who earns trust by doing the dirty work: anchor the middle, eat blocks, and keep linebackers clean. The latest available Eastern Illinois materials show him as a 2000s-era EIU DT with experience and leadership, but there isn’t current public stat-leader data available here for a 2026 form check, so the takeaway is style more than box score. If you want a physical, assignment-sound interior defender who brings toughness and steadiness, he fits that mold well.
