Chance Mako brings pro-level arm talent and frontline upside to Gardner-Webb
Chance Mako is a 6-foot-6, right-handed starter with legit pro pedigree: he was ranked No. 155 by Kiley McDaniel and No. 162 by MLB.com in the 2023 draft class, then arrived at Gardner-Webb after time at NC State and Coastal Carolina. In Gardner-Webb’s 2026 preseason notes, he was highlighted as a standout prospect with a strong high school track record, including a 1.62 ERA and 83 strikeouts as a junior at East Rowan. The appeal is obvious: big frame, projectable velocity, and ceiling that can change a rotation fast if his command clicks.
