Northern Colorado’s WR wild card with a proven playmaking track record
Derek Gainey’s most reliable documented college impact came in the 2025-era Northern Colorado/CSU Pueblo profile: he was used primarily as a kick returner and averaged 19.5 yards on 16 returns, flashing real open-field juice and toughness in space. That kind of speed-value profile matters because it shows he can tilt field position even before the receiving numbers catch up. If your team wants a WR who can bring energy, special-teams utility, and explosive-play upside rather than just box-score volume, Gainey is the kind of developmental, high-motor athlete worth a look.
