UMBC’s compact spark plug who keeps finding ways to impact games
In the 2025 season, Jesiah Carpenter led UMBC in batting average (.312) while adding 54 hits, 41 runs, eight doubles, two home runs, 25 RBI and 24 walks, and he carried that momentum into 2026 with timely extra-base hits and stolen-base pressure. His calling card is versatility at the top/middle of the order: quick bat, aggressive baserunning, and the kind of game-to-game energy that shows up in clutch moments—like multi-hit, multi-RBI performances and even a stolen home. At 5-foot-7, he plays with a chip on his shoulder and gives a roster speed, contact, and grit.
