Lyla Blackwell brings speed, range, and clutch defensive value to Virginia Tech
Blackwell is a proven outfield piece for Virginia Tech who combines speed, contact ability, and game-changing defense; in 2025 she made 27 starts, hit .270, and repeatedly showed up in high-leverage moments with an RBI triple, multiple timely hits, and a diving catch that helped fuel a triple play and preserve a win over Alabama and Stanford. Her differentiators are her athleticism, center-of-action instincts in left field, and ability to impact a game without needing big power numbers. She looks like a strong fit for teams that value toughness, versatility, and momentum-shifting plays.
