Marist freshman Jason Bassett brings strike-throwing poise and quick-start efficiency to the Red Foxes
In the 2026 season, Marist freshman right-hander Jason Bassett has flashed early rotation upside with multiple short-start outings: 3.1 innings with one run allowed vs. Army, 4.0 innings with one run allowed at UAlbany, and 4.0 innings with two hits and one earned run vs. Sacred Heart. The appeal is simple: he attacks the zone, gives the team competitive innings, and looks comfortable starting as a first-year arm. That kind of low-drama, high-utility profile can play on any staff—especially if you value mound maturity over flash.
