Carter French is UNC’s glue-guy outfielder with postseason poise
In the 2026 season, Carter French has been more than a bat in the lineup for North Carolina: he’s a veteran, left-leaning defensive specialist whose strong glove, steady contact, and big-moment calm helped power UNC back to Omaha. He hit .280 in 2025, started the final 28 games in left field, and was praised for excellent defense and veteran leadership in 2026. The fun wrinkle: he’s a pre-med biology major nicknamed “Dr. French,” which tracks—smart, reliable, and always where the Tar Heels need him.
