Brayden Buchanan is a tough, defense-first Baylor catcher with a sneaky bat heating up
In the 2026 season, redshirt sophomore catcher Brayden Buchanan has been a reliable Baylor piece behind the plate and has recently flashed with multiple multi-hit games, including two hits against Southern Miss on Feb. 22 and a 2-for-5 outing at Utah on May 15. Listed at 6-foot-1, 214 pounds, he brings a sturdy catcher’s frame, right-handed bat, and experience at catcher, first base, and DH, which gives Baylor lineup flexibility. He hit .159 in 2024 as a freshman, so the offensive ceiling is still developing, but his recent contact gains and versatility make him a useful fit for a program valuing grit, adaptability, and defensive depth.
