Kellan Montgomery gave UCSB a true ace-level boost in 2026
Kellan Montgomery’s 2026 season at UC Santa Barbara was a big-time one: he went 8-4 with a 4.00 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 81 innings, then earned All-Big West Second Team honors before signing with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent. He stood out for giving the Gauchos quality innings, including a one-run, eight-inning gem against UC San Diego and a 9-strikeout outing in the Big West race. For a team, he projects as a steady, competitive right-hander who can miss bats, hold up deep into games, and bring veteran poise—very much a “give me the ball” type.
