Staton is a long, defensive-minded center whose best calling card is shot-blocking and rebounding upside, backed by a strong high-school résumé as a 7-foot-1 producer who led Sierra Vista to a state title. At BYU, his role has been limited so far—he’s averaged just 4.9 to 7.0 minutes in sparse appearances with modest counting stats—so he remains more projection than finished product. He fits best with a team that values size, rim protection, and patience in player development, especially if it can afford to wait on offense.
