Ron Rutland III brings Indiana-bred guard toughness and real three-point pop to IU Indianapolis
Rutland is a combo guard with a proven scoring résumé from Crispus Attucks and a family basketball pedigree, plus he was ranked among Indiana’s top-10 prospects and sixth-best senior in the state coming out of high school. In the 2024-25 season at IU Indianapolis, he played in 28 games off the bench, averaging 2.2 points in 8.8 minutes while shooting 37.5% overall and 32.5% from three, with flashes of shot-making and perimeter activity. He looks like a fit for teams that value local toughness, floor spacing, and upside over immediate stat-sheet volume.
