Benjamin Cardone brings pop, grit, and a freshman bat worth watching at VMI
In the 2026 season, VMI freshman Benjamin Cardone has shown real offensive juice for a first-year player, hitting .237 with a .686 OPS, 1 home run, 5 RBI, and 2 stolen bases in 13 games, while also delivering a clutch homer and multiple RBI moments in conference play. He arrived with a strong prep résumé as an All-State catcher who hit .396 with 42 hits, 12 doubles, and 4 homers, and that background lines up with the early signs: power, competitiveness, and enough athleticism to add value beyond the box score. If a team wants a catcher with upside and edge, Cardone is a legit watch-list guy.
