Jarret Williams is Lamar’s freshman lefty breaking out fast
In the 2026 season, Jarret Williams gave Lamar a real weapon on the mound: a freshman left-hander who piled up 52 strikeouts in 56.1 innings, posted a 3.83 ERA and 1.24 WHIP, and earned midseason Freshman All-American honors from Perfect Game[1][2]. What makes him intriguing is the poise and run prevention behind the line: he struck out 8 in a five-inning two-hitter against Northwestern State and had multiple scoreless outings, suggesting a starter with real battler’s composure and room to grow into a high-upside weekend role[2][3].
