Mitchell Dean brings a huge frame, a live left arm, and upside for Ball State
In the 2026 season, Ball State’s 6-foot-7, 240-pound left-handed pitcher Mitchell Dean stands out for his power/angle profile, a rare build that can create tough sightlines and uncomfortable at-bats. After redshirting in 2025, he entered Ball State with experience from Louisville and Gulf Coast State College, where he showed swing-and-miss ability in limited innings; his background also includes a dominant high school résumé with 109 strikeouts and a 0.63 ERA in 2023. He looks like a developmental fit for a staff that can refine raw upside into real leverage innings.
