Bethune-Cookman’s Workhorse Ace with SWAC Hardware
Edwin Sanchez has been one of Bethune-Cookman’s tone-setting lefties, pairing a low-slot, high-competitiveness profile with proven results: in the 2026 season he earned SWAC Pitcher of the Year after going 11-1 with a 2.69 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 73.2 innings, and he opened 2026 by fanning 10 in five strong innings. At just 5'7", he wins with command, toughness, and feel rather than loud velocity, making him the kind of gritty, reliable starter coaches love to plug in on weekends.
