CJ Patterson gives Norfolk State a steady late-inning arm with swing-and-miss relief upside
In the 2026 season, CJ Patterson has been a useful relief weapon for Norfolk State, working in high-leverage spots and collecting 20 strikeouts in 25.0 innings while posting a 6.12 ERA. He’s a right-handed pitcher who can give multiple innings, and he’s already shown the ability to close out games, including a three-inning, five-strikeout win over Central Connecticut State. The big draw is his experience, strikeout ability, and durable bullpen profile; the caution flag is that the run prevention has been uneven, so he fits best as a depth arm with upside rather than a finished product.
