Max McGwire brings left-side pop and everyday versatility to Saint Louis
In the 2026 season, Max McGwire gave Saint Louis usable middle-of-the-order production, appearing in 52 games with 47 starts and hitting .212 with seven home runs, 42 hits, 35 runs, and 31 RBI. At 6'3", 205 pounds, the left-side option at first base/outfield offers power upside and lineup flexibility, which can matter more than the batting average alone. He looks like a fit for teams valuing physicality, run production, and positional cover; the main question is whether he can keep the power while lifting contact quality and consistency.
